Leo Fender started G&L with his long-time business partner and friend George Fullerton in 1980 with one purpose: to improve on the designs and technologies put forth during the Fender years prior to the CBS buyout. When Leo sold Fender to CBS, he kept all of the original machines that were used to build stratocasters for Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn, and basses for James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorius. Today, G&L's small team of builders use these machines to create every custom guitar and bass. Leo's private workshop has remained untouched as it was on his last day, and has been visited by music fans from around the world.
