For insurance and estate purposes, an up-to-date valuation is an important document in these fast changing economic times. We provide appraisals only to the bona-fide owner of the instrument. Our valuations are based on our close monitoring of prevailing market conditions both locally and in other active market centers around the world. Valuations take into account a variety of factors, including condition, authenticity and provenance. Instruments brought or sent to us should be accompanied by photocopies of all related previous documentation relating to the instrument. Insurance companies today insist on written valuations that include precise measurements and photographic records being taken. Detailed condition reports based on examination of instruments in our workshop are also available, with or without valuation.
Initial discussions as well as verbal valuations for instruments under $5,000 in value are given without charge.
Appraisal is not to be confused with identification, authentication, or certification. These are services that may, in certain cases, be available at an additional charge. For appraisal rates and appointments, please contact our violin department.
